Remember
What Does Child Do To Use Skill In The Game?
Children may remember certain times of day associated with certain activities or times of years associated with certain objects listed on the disks.
How Parents Can Assist Learning
If a child is having difficulty responding to a prompt, ask questions like "When you last wore you coat, was it cold or hot outside?" or "When its breakfast time, does that happen in the beginning or the end of the day?"
Learning Implications and Educator Support
While not a memory game, My Fun Day involves remembering as children are asked to describe when certain objects are used or certain activities occur.
Practice
What Does Child Do To Use Skill In The Game?
Children may practice putting sliders on the days, months and dates, as well as the hands on the clock into specific times like 3:15 or 6:45.
How Parents Can Assist Learning
Practicing required adult interaction to ask questions, discuss and confirm that the child has put the sliders and moved the hands to the correct days, months, dates and times.
Learning Implications and Educator Support
"My Fun Day activity set provides educators with tools and prompts to work with children to learn about and practice concepts of days, months, dates and times.
Educators may want to augment with other educational tools in the classroom and verbal prompts to enhance learning these concepts."

Special Needs
Cognitive
Suggestions for How to Modify Play Experience
Most of the activities on My Fun Day are too high a level for young children with cognitive delays.
Communication
Suggestions for How to Modify Play Experience
Use My Fun Day to encourage children with language delays to imitate the adult's speech, naming days, months, numbers, and weather conditions. Use the discs to encourage labeling of objects and actions and to encourage use of sentences (e.g., "Tibbar is kicking.")
Use the My Fun Day discs when actually dressing the child. Look at the weather outside the window and compare the pictures to choose appropriate clothing. Also use the pictures on the discs to talk about activities of the day.
Sensorimotor
Suggestions for How to Modify Play Experience
The sliders on My Fun Day are fixed in their location, so placement is not an issue. The adult may have to help the child manipulate the slider to land in the right position.
Social Emotional/Behavioral
Suggestions for How to Modify Play Experience
Pair discussion of the objects and actions on the discs to the actual weather and clothing that is worn. This makes the activity more meaningful and less frustrating. Children with a short attention span or who are easily frustrated, need concrete references and short activities.
Don't try to go through all of the activities on My Fun Day in one sitting. Break it up as is relates to dressing, planning activities, etc.
Vision
Suggestions for How to Modify Play Experience
My Fun Day is a dense arrangement of different activities and may be too visually complex for children with low vision.
Hearing
Suggestions for How to Modify Play Experience
If the deaf child comprehends the meaning of the items on the board, they will be able to use sign to indicate the correct responses. However, as many deaf children are also have delays in language, this may be too difficult for them.
Paired with the appropriate sign language, My Fun Day may be a fun way to practice the signs for the terms on the board. The discs can prompt the use of signs to convey whole thoughts.

Is This Game Appropriate for Child with Characteristic? Yes
Can Child with Characteristic Play Game w/o Modification? Yes
Strategies for Developing Compensatory Skills:
As long as the child is listening to the adult and attending to My Fun Day, they can engage in the activities.
Has difficulty understanding complex verbal directions
Is This Game Appropriate for Child with Characteristic? Yes
Can Child with Characteristic Play Game w/o Modification? No
Strategies for Developing Compensatory Skills:
The activities on My Fun Day vary in complexity and required understanding. Understanding the weather is the easiest, as the child can look out of the window and match the pictures to what they see. Some of the other activities require more abstract thinking and may be too challenging. If the child with autism has a facility with numbers, learning these aspects of the board may be of interest.
Uses vocabulary inaccurately or demonstrates echolalia (repeating another's speech)
Is This Game Appropriate for Child with Characteristic? Yes
Can Child with Characteristic Play Game w/o Modification? Yes
Strategies for Developing Compensatory Skills:
Echolalia should not interfere with manipulation of the pieces on the board, but echolalia may interfere with discussion of specific items.
Gets stuck repeating a verbal topic or physical actions and/or has difficulty attending to others' actions or topic.
Is This Game Appropriate for Child with Characteristic? No
Can Child with Characteristic Play Game w/o Modification? No
Strategies for Developing Compensatory Skills:
The My Fun Day board is visually complex and has a variety of activities at different developmental levels. Fixation on a specific topic or physical actions not related to activities on the board will interfere with focus of attention and performance.
Has difficulty producing speech/communication
Is This Game Appropriate for Child with Characteristic? Yes
Can Child with Characteristic Play Game w/o Modification? Yes
Strategies for Developing Compensatory Skills:
Although discussion of the activities on the board is preferred, the activities can be completed successfully without the child discussing their actions. The adult should note the child's actions and comment on the child's responses and explain why inaccurate responses are not correct.
Has difficulty sequencing multi-step actions and/or doing complex abstract tasks
Is This Game Appropriate for Child with Characteristic? No
Can Child with Characteristic Play Game w/o Modification? No

Is This Game Appropriate for Child with Characteristic? Yes
Can Child with Characteristic Play Game w/o Modification? No
Strategies for Developing Compensatory Skills:
Because the My Fun Day board is complicated and requires many abstract thinking processes, it may be too challenging and therefore frustrating to the child. For those children functioning at a lower level, My Fun Day is not a good choice.

Is This Game Appropriate for Child with Characteristic? Yes
Can Child with Characteristic Play Game w/o Modification? No

How to Play Video & Transcript
You can enjoy my fun day with one to two players ages 3 and up. My fun day is great for developing life and thinking skills such as telling time it also helps with identifying days of the week and months of the year as well.
As the seasons my fun day also helps develop fine motor skills as you move the clock hands sliders and dials on the board. My fun day can be used both upright and flat.
To position the board upright place it on the two wooden feet. Set the Sun and Moon pawn next to the board to indicate nighttime or daytime.
Stack the activity discs near the board. These discs are a great way to help build your child's understanding of how the board can relate to their world.
There are lots of ways to engage with your child and help them learn about their world.
The board, pawn and activity discs can be used to help give context to the times of day or night and how the seasons or weather can make a difference to what they wear.
Look outside to see what the weather is like and then share it with Tibbar Rabbit by turning the dial to the correct picture.
Using the disks, identify which items you might need. There are four seasons in a year, move the slider to show what season it is. Using the night and day pawn choose a side and move the hands on the clock to a specific time—then help teach what the clock looks like at certain times of day using the pictures on the disks to help your child understand how it relates to their activities.
Let Tibbar Rabbit help your child learn the days of the week telling time and more with SimplyFun’s My Fun Day.
