Special Needs

Cognitive

Suggestions for How to Modify Play Experience
Most of the activities on My Fun Day are too high a level for young children with cognitive delays.

Communication

Suggestions for How to Modify Play Experience
Use My Fun Day to encourage children with language delays to imitate the adult's speech, naming days, months, numbers, and weather conditions. Use the discs to encourage labeling of objects and actions and to encourage use of sentences (e.g., "Tibbar is kicking.")

Use the My Fun Day discs when actually dressing the child. Look at the weather outside the window and compare the pictures to choose appropriate clothing. Also use the pictures on the discs to talk about activities of the day.

Sensorimotor

Suggestions for How to Modify Play Experience
The sliders on My Fun Day are fixed in their location, so placement is not an issue. The adult may have to help the child manipulate the slider to land in the right position.

Social Emotional/Behavioral

Suggestions for How to Modify Play Experience
Pair discussion of the objects and actions on the discs to the actual weather and clothing that is worn. This makes the activity more meaningful and less frustrating. Children with a short attention span or who are easily frustrated, need concrete references and short activities.

Don't try to go through all of the activities on My Fun Day in one sitting. Break it up as is relates to dressing, planning activities, etc.

Vision

Suggestions for How to Modify Play Experience
My Fun Day is a dense arrangement of different activities and may be too visually complex for children with low vision.

Hearing

Suggestions for How to Modify Play Experience
If the deaf child comprehends the meaning of the items on the board, they will be able to use sign to indicate the correct responses. However, as many deaf children are also have delays in language, this may be too difficult for them.

Paired with the appropriate sign language, My Fun Day may be a fun way to practice the signs for the terms on the board. The discs can prompt the use of signs to convey whole thoughts.

My Fun Day is an interactive board for preschoolers to practice identifying the weather, season, days of the week, months of the year, calendar day, and analog time. Parts are movable so the child can move a dial or slider to identify the right answer. Accompanying disks expand the conversation by presenting pictures of items or actions associated with the various aspects on the My Fun Day board.

How to Play Video & Transcript

Welcome to Simply Fun's how to play with my fun day a fun activity board that helps kids learn about the calendar, telling time, weather and more.

You can enjoy my fun day with one to two players ages 3 and up. My fun day is great for developing life and thinking skills such as telling time it also helps with identifying days of the week and months of the year as well.

As the seasons my fun day also helps develop fine motor skills as you move the clock hands sliders and dials on the board. My fun day can be used both upright and flat.

To position the board upright place it on the two wooden feet. Set the Sun and Moon pawn next to the board to indicate nighttime or daytime.

Stack the activity discs near the board. These discs are a great way to help build your child's understanding of how the board can relate to their world.

There are lots of ways to engage with your child and help them learn about their world.

The board, pawn and activity discs can be used to help give context to the times of day or night and how the seasons or weather can make a difference to what they wear.

Look outside to see what the weather is like and then share it with Tibbar Rabbit by turning the dial to the correct picture.

Using the disks, identify which items you might need. There are four seasons in a year, move the slider to show what season it is. Using the night and day pawn choose a side and move the hands on the clock to a specific time—then help teach what the clock looks like at certain times of day using the pictures on the disks to help your child understand how it relates to their activities.

Let Tibbar Rabbit help your child learn the days of the week telling time and more with SimplyFun’s My Fun Day.
